For the Birds!

Last minute Christmas shopping is for the birds! Luckily, we got ours done so we made like fish at the aquatic center this afternoon.

Snow!

Linkan woke up and saw the snow outside this morning. With excited wonder in her voice, said "I've been waiting for years to see snow!"

Their dad came home from work just to take the girls out sledding in the driveway.

Palmer lasted less than 5 minutes outside. The bulkiness of her clothes were driving her mad. Linkan came in once, balling because her hands were cold, so we put my waterproof gloves on and off she went. (Although, as I was wrestling with her gloves and trying to get Palmer's snowsuit off (while both are screaming in my ears), my head may have exploded for just one teensy weensy second.)

After the gloves incident, Link went back out and had a blast sledding and building a snow trench. Palmer was perfectly happy to watch her from inside the door. :) Happy Winter!

Not Anymore

Today, we were in the checkout line at the store. I had just dropped by the pharmacy counter to pick up a prescription for Ben. I stopped to talk to my pharmacist that I've gotten to know so well over the past 12 or 13 months. It's been awhile since I've been at the pharmacy so we needed to catch up. Haha

Anyway, as we were checking out, Linkan looked up at me and said, "Mommy, does daddy have kawn-ser anymore?" I looked down at that sweet little face and said, "No, baby, not anymore." I smiled real big at her and she smiled real big right back at me. :)

Stormy

There is a big rain storm rolling through tonight. We heard Linkan whimpering in her room upstairs (through the monitor) so Ben went up to check on her. In her sweet little exasperated and scared voice, she said, "I tried the hide everywhere!" :)

Sandolf?

Palmer put these on all on her own. I have a very confused little Santa-rudolf-baby. ;)

A Weekend Away at the Lake

It didn't suck. It was ah-mazing. Beautiful lake house, beautiful surroundings (so quiet and serene), no agenda, just us. Our first overnighter away from our babies. We missed them dearly. But the relationship recharge was more important. Two consecutive nights of continuous uninterrupted sleep - and lots of it. The road trip to and from was awesome too! This American Life podcasts and time to talk about whatever. We chuckled at ourselves several times over the course of the weekend - the things that get us excited these days - a good night's sleep, cleaning up only after ourselves, uninterrupted adult conversation. Lol

Thank you, Keith, for your amazing generosity for sharing your haven with us. I got a good laugh when I read the framed quote (below) on you desk. The truth is that we fell in love with ya, brother, on the trails to Everest before we ever knew what a loser you were back at home in the States. ;) Werd.

Thank you, grandpa and grandma, for loving on our babies while we were gone. You put our (my) mind at ease and I didn't worry a single bit. No lie!

I missed them so much and we shared silly stories about them all weekend long that made us giggle.

The battery recharge this weekend was good for all of us. ;)
