Sick Baby

I have to documet this because it's such a rare occurrence. Besides the ocassional runny nose from new teeth, Linkan has only been sick one other time in her life. The other time was early on when she had a fever at 2 months old. Since then, she had been healthy as a horse. Last Saturday, while visiting my family in Atlanta, she started to come down with something...evidenced by her change in demeanor. The flight on Sunday was not fun for Linkan or her mama. By then, she had a pretty nasty cough and was running a temperature. When we got home, Ben urged me to take her to the doctor because he used to get lots of ear infections as a kid and thought that she might have that. She wasn't tugging on her ears or showing any of those signs so I wasn't sure. On Monday morning, the doc said she had a double ear infection. Good call, dad! She is on meds now and they even gave us some numbing drops for her ears. She is pretty grumpy and doesn't feel like eating or drinking so she is also fairly weak. She has the rest of the week to recover and then we leave for Cozumel on Saturday. We are praying that she is doing well by then. Here are some pics that I took this morning of her snuggled up in my maternity pillow, watching Sesame Street. It didn't take long for her to doze off. Maybe now I can get a few things done before she wakes up... :)

5 Month Ultrasound & OB Appointment

Today was an exciting day because we had our 20-week ultrasound. We got to see baby #2 again (last time was at 10 weeks). It's crazy to think that I'm half way there already! He/she has grown so much and was jumping around like a fire cracker. Linkan was enthralled with the "tv" and kept saying "baby baby baby" over and over again. :) Although our doctor hasn't recieved the official results yet, everything looked great. 10 fingers and toes! We could have found out the sex but we didn't want to. I was looking real hard, though! It is harder this time around to not know! Ben thinks it's a boy and my intuition says the same. I had always thought that Linkan was a girl. Stay tuned...we'll know in about 20 weeks if we're right!

Had our OB appointment right after the ultrasound. Nothing too exciting to report. I am 118 lbs. and our baby's heart rate was in the 130's. Uneventful is good! Topped off a great day with Red Robin fries and campfire sauce!
