Sisters
Linkan finally got to come home and meet her new baby sister for the first time! Before she went to bed, she asked to hold Palmer. She thought that was pretty cool and even gave her some kisses. I love my girls. :)
One week old
My baby is a week old already! What a week it has been. :) I thought that Linkan was an easy baby but Palmer is reminding me daily of how blessed I am to have an even easier second baby. She came out of the womb knowing the difference between day and night. If you're a parent, you know how amazing this is! We have gotten WAY more sleep at night than we had expected. She is a very chill baby...doesn't get too upset about much. She caught onto breastfeeding almost immediately and eats like a champ. At her 5 day-old appointment, she weighed 7 pounds! (She was 6 lbs. 13 oz. at birth.) We are so happy to have two little girls. For those who are wondering, the Postlethwaits are officially done having children. Our little family is complete now and we couldn't be happier or more blessed!
He's in love :)

It's a girl!
Miss Palmer Tate was born at 12:54 in the afternoon on Thursday, August 4th. She is 6 lbs. 13 oz. and 18.5 inches long. We arrived at the hospital with only 20 minutes to spare and she didn't waste any time making her grand appearance! We are incredibly blessed to have a beautiful healthy baby girl. Now our family of 4 (FOUR!!!) is complete. We couldn't be happier.

A season in life
I'm having a hard time believing that, by this time tomorrow, we will have taken possession of our new house in Lawrence, KS. It's been a long journey since March, when Ben accepted a new job, and we decided to pack up our family and move back to the heartland. I haven't lived with my husband since the end of April...we've only seen each other on some weekends. Linkan and I have been living with my parents all summer. They have been absolutely wonderful and have bent over backwards to take care of us. I know it hasn't been easy for them to have their lives interrupted but they have taken it all in stride.
Initially, we thought that there was no way that we would be in a new home by the time that our baby was born. Now, I know that I'll not only be in my house, but I may have a few spare days to unpack. God is so good. Honestly, some of the "stuff" that I have had to deal with this summer sure seems to pale in comparison to other's situations. I was reminded of that the other night when watching a show about a serviceman coming home to see his family...and seeing his 6 month old baby for the first time in his life. His wife had to give birth alone. She had to take care of their other kids and a newborn alone. Wow.
Even though this season in my life hasn't always been the most comfortable...in the future...I think that I will look back on the summer of 2011 with great fondness. How many times in life are you able to spend that much time with your immediate family (after you've grown up and moved out)? The time that Linkan has had with both sets of grandparents this summer has been priceless. Ben and I have grown closer even though we have lived apart. We have functioned as a well-oiled machine...and haven't sweated or squabbled over the small stuff because the small stuff didn't seem to matter much. I have learned to trust God even more with all the little details of my life and to be grateful for it all...even the inconveniences.
